Consul General Mr. Lu Shiwei Paid A Farewell Call On The Head of State of Penang, Malaysia

    On August 11, 2022, Consul General Mr. Lu Shiwei paid a farewell call on H. E. Ahmad Fuzi bin Abdul Razak, the Head of State of Penang, Malaysia.

    Consul General Mr. Lu Shiwei thanked the Head of State of Penang for providing support to his and the Consulate General’s work during his tenure. He said that: as the second Chinese Consul General in Penang, I have gained a lot during my work in Penang and spent over 4 years of happy time here. Now I feel reluctant to say goodbye when it’s time to complete my tour of duty and return to China. I am very happy to see the further deepening of the friendly relationship between the provinces and cities of China and the four states in the consular district. Both sides have made continuous progress in the exchanges and cooperation in the fields of politics, economy, science & technology, education and media. I have also established profound friendship with friends from all walks of life in the consular district. After I leave my post, I will continue to pay attention to the friendly exchanges and cooperation between China and Malaysia both at national and local levels. 

    H. E. Ahmad Fuzi bin Abdul Razak spoke highly of the contributions made my Consul General Mr. Lu Shiwei to the development of relations between the localities of China and Malaysia during his tenure, and praised Consul General Mr. Lu as the most active Consul General in Penang. He thanked Consul General Mr. Lu for promoting the exchanges and cooperation between Penang and relevant provinces and cities in China to yield fruitful outcomes. He felt regretful for Consul General Mr. Lu’s leaving. He also pointed out that Penang is willing to enhance cooperation with Chinese side in many newly emerging fields and hoped that Consul General Mr. Lu would continue to pay attention to the promotion of exchanges and cooperation between the two sides after leaving the post. 

    Consul General Mr. Lu Shiwei expounded on China's position on on Nancy Pelosi's visit to China's Taiwan region. He expressed that Malaysia strictly adheres to the one-China principle, and never recognizes or lends any support to “Taiwan independence”. China highly appreciates it. H. E. Ahmad Fuzi bin Abdul Razak reiterated Malaysia’s commitment to one-China principle and expressed opposition to any provocation that will trigger regional instability.

    Both sides have also had an in-depth exchange of views on the educational and cultural exchanges between China and Malaysia at local levels, the internalization of RMB, etc.
