On January 25, Chinese Consul General in Penang Mr. Zhou Youbin paid a courtesy call on the Menteri Besar of the State of Perak Mr. Saarani bin Mohamad during the Chinese New Year.

    Consul General Mr. Zhou Youbin extended New Year greetings to Mr. Saarani bin Mohamad and congratulated him on his assuming the duty as the Menteri Besar of the State of Perak for a second time. Mr. Zhou said that the consular district of the Consulate General of China in Penang includes the four states of Northern Malaysia, which are Penang, Perak, Kedah, and Perlis. Chinese Consulate General in Penang is committed to promoting exchanges and cooperation between relevant provinces and cities in China and the four states in the consular district in the fields of economy, trade, investment, people-to-people exchanges, culture, education, etc., and is willing to strengthen ties with the Perak State Government to produce more new resultes in the practical cooperation between relevant Chinese localities and Perak in the post-pandemic era.

    Mr. Saarani bin Mohamad welcomed Consul General Mr. Zhou Youbin to visit Perak and wished him a Happy New Year. He expressed that the Perak State Government is willing to work closely with Chinese Consulate General in Penang to jointly explore new opportunities for exchanges and cooperation between Perak and Chinese provinces and cities, and assist all relevant parties to expand cooperation channels and areas to truly benefit the people of the two countries.

    Consul General Mr. Zhou Youbin and Menteri Besar Mr. Saarani bin Mohamad also attended the Chinese New Year Celebration hosted by the Perak Chinese Assembly Hall together.
