On July 16, Chinese Consul General in Penang Zhou Youbin attended the “2026 Lit Guangzhou” Southeast Asia City Image & Investment Promotion Campaign and delivered a speech. Also Present were Penang State Executive Councillor YB Goh Choon Aik, Penang State Assemblyman YB Wong Yuee Harng, General Manager of Kwong Wah Yit Poh Dato’ Lee Hin Chan and other representatives of chambers of commerce, Chinese schools and media of Malaysia.

In his speech, Consul General Zhou said that today’s world is witnessing accelerating transformation unseen in a century. China advances Chinese modernization with strategic initiative on all fronts and maintains a steady, innovation-driven and high-quality growth momentum. China’s high-quality development continues to provide vast growth opportunities for enterprises worldwide. Currently, as China-Malaysia relationship is at its best level, Guangzhou and Penang share immense room for cooperation. The two sides are well-positioned to leverage their complementary strengths for mutual benefit and win-win outcomes, injecting fresh momentum into the next “Golden 50 Years” of China-Malaysia relations.

The event also featured the launch ceremony of the 2026 Yue-Yun Cup Essay and Art Competition for Primary and Secondary-School Students (Malaysia Division).
