On May 7, Chinese Consul General in Penang Zhou Youbin visited the Confucius Institute at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), met with its faculty and staff, and conducted research on the implementation of Chinese language teaching in the Confucius Institute.

Consul General Zhou fully recognized the achievements of the Confucius Institute at UTAR in Chinese language teaching and the dissemination of Chinese culture since it established two years ago. He said that the Confucius Institute is an important platform for enhancing China-Malaysia friendship and promoting cultural exchange and mutual learning. He hopes that the Confucius Institute would continue to play its role as a bridge, by organizing more cultural exchange and promotion activities, caring for learning and living conditions of Chinese students at UTAR, so as to contribute to building a high-level strategic China-Malaysia community with a shared future.
The faculty and staff of the Confucius Institute at UTAR expressed their gratitude to the Consulate General for its continuous care and support, and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting traditional cultural excellence, expanding the influence of the Chinese language, telling Chinese stories and those of China-Malaysia friendship, and deepening people-to-people ties between the two countries.
