On August 15, Vice Consul General of China in Penang Ding Qiao attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Chinese section of Peace Gallery in Ipoh, and delivered a speech. Also present were the founder of the Peace Gallery Professor Gary Lit, ex-Mayor of Ipoh Dato Roshidi Hashim and 4 local war survivors and their families, etc.

Ding stated that, the iron-clad war crimes committed by the Japanese militarists brought severe disasters to the Asian countries. The international community must stay on high alert and jointly and firmly prevent and stop the spread of Japan’s neo-militarism. China stands ready to work with Malaysia and other countries around the world to safeguard the victory of the WWII, uphold a correct view of history and promote Asian values of peace, cooperation, openness and inclusiveness. The war survivors and their families told their personal experiences of suffering during Japanese aggression.

Ding also attended the memorial ceremony for Chinese ancestors and fallen heroes held by Perak Chinese Assembly Hall. Representatives of local Chinese associations and Chinese schools were present.
