On May 24, Chinese Consul General in Penang Zhou Youbin attended the award ceremony of the “My Love, My Connection Between China and Malaysia” Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Competition in Penang commemorating the 52nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China. Also present were more than 600 people, including YB Lim Hui Ying, Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development of Malaysia; Mr. Loke Gim Tay, Permanent Honorary Advisor of the Penang Chinese Brush Painting Art Society; Mr. Loh Kooi Loong, President of the Penang Chinese Brush Painting Art Society; Dato' Hwang Thean Long, Managing Director of Suiwah Corporation Bhd; the contestants and their parents, media representatives and the audience.

In his speech, Consul General Zhou said that in celebration of the 52nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia, Chinese Consulate General and the Penang Chinese Brush Painting Art Society jointly organized the “My Love, My Connection Between China and Malaysia” Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Competition in Penang. He hopes that we could strengthen cultural exchange and people-to-people connectivity between China and Malaysia through Chinese calligraphy and painting and create a better future of cooperation and win-win outcomes.

The competition attracted 368 contestants from Penang, Kedah, Perak, Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, including Malaysian Chinese, Malay, and indigenous people from East Malaysia, to participate in live calligraphy and painting.
